Outdoor Adventure

The city is surrounded by 2 rivers and 3 lakes. On Table Rock Lake or Beaver Lake, there is great fishing, smooth water for canoe/kayak float trips. The 1600-acre Lake Leatherwood City Park is crisscrossed with 25 miles of hiking and biking trails, and the 85-acre spring-fed lake is perfect for a day of boating or fishing. Nearby caves and caverns are perfect for exploring including War Eagle Cavern located on Beaver Lake, Onyx Cave, and Cosmic Cavern. Several stables in the area offer horseback riding.

Experience the exhilarating thrill of a zip line canopy tour in the heart of the beautiful Ozark Mountains. Soar through the air from up to 200+ feet high with cable lengths from up to 1800 feet long over vast gorgeous, beautiful Ozark hardwood trees and limestone cliffs.  Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge is an organization that provides lifetime refuge for abandoned, abused, and neglected “big cats”. The refuge mainly specializes in tigers, but there are also lions, leopards, cougars, bobcats, black bears, ligers, servals, a monkey, a coatimundi, and a grizzly bear. Turpentine Creek is open daily from 9 am-6 pm.

While in Eureka Springs, take a tram or walking tour and learn about our historic buildings and unique past. Trolleys are a preferred way to get around the winding, crisscrossed streets. See the colorful past of this unique town and the people who lived here at the Eureka Springs Historical Museum.

Special events and activities are planned around town to enjoy the warm days of spring. Everyone feeling Irish can join in the 25th Annual St. Paddy’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 14th. Festivities kick off at 2 p.m. as the parade rolls down Spring Street from the Carnegie Library to the courthouse on Main Street.

The Sky is the Limit

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge hosts it’s 30th annual Kite Festival celebration on March 28th. “Art With an Altitude,” sponsored by KaleidoKites of Eureka Springs, is a free family event inviting attendees to bring their own kites or buy one at the refuge. The celebration includes vendors, contests and fun activities for parents and children.
