A con man by the name of Norman Baker converted the hotel into the Baker Cancer Clinic, portraying himself as a groundbreaking healer with the supposed "cure" for cancer. Sadly, many patients had to suffer and die before Baker was finally arrested and imprisoned for mail fraud. Still to this day restless spirits roam the halls and rooms of the Crescent Hotel.
